Oregano

Oregano is a flowering plant in the mint family (Lamiaceae). Oregano is related to marjoram, sometimes called wild marjoram.
Oregano is a culinary herb used for its leaves, which can be more aromatic when dried than when fresh. It has an aromatic, warm, and slightly bitter flavor that can vary in intensity.
Oregano's most well-known modern use is as a staple herb in Italian cuisine. It is most often used with baked, sautéed, or grilled vegetables, meat, and fish. Oregano pairs well with savory dishes popular in southern Italy. Dried and ground leaves are most often used in Greece to add flavor to Greek salads and are typically added to lemon-olive oil sauces that accompany fish or meat grills and casseroles.
